Tile Composition – Búzios

Period: 17th Century

Dimensions: 112 cm x 84 cm (44.09 inches x 33.07 inches)

The pattern known as "Búzios" is a rare example of Portuguese tilework from this period.

Identified as P-398 in the book Azulejaria em Portugal no Século XVII, Volume I, it is described as a "strange" pattern that seems not to have been widely accepted at the time. The border features the same motif, creating a complete composition.
