The Devezas Ceramics Factory was located in Vila Nova de Gaia, in the district of Porto. Founded by a private company of potters and stonemasons in the mid-1860s, it dominated the production of ceramic artifacts for architectural use until the first decade of the 20th century. This glazed earthenware statue, dating from the 19th century, is a result of the factory's production and represents an allegory of the Portuguese nation.
