Summer and Winter

Period: 18th century

Dimensions: 94 cm x 86 cm (37.01 inches x 33.86 inches)

Two 18th-century tile panels, painted in blue and white, depict the seasons of Winter and Summer. Both belong to the Baroque style, featuring ornate frames composed of scrolls, acanthus leaves, and architectural elements.

The Winter panel features a female figure dressed in heavy clothing, suggesting protection against the cold. In the background, a subtle landscape and the presence of a smoking structure reinforce the wintry atmosphere.

The Summer panel depicts a female figure dressed in light garments and sandals, carrying a bunch of grapes on her shoulder—a symbol of the harvest and abundance typical of the season.
