A frame made of 18th-century Portuguese tiles, painted in cobalt blue on a white background. The composition features a classically inspired male figure, resembling a satyr, holding a basket of flowers above his head. In the lower section, a phoenix appears, integrated into the vertical structure of the composition.
In Portuguese Baroque tilework, this type of figure was incorporated into the frames of large figurative panels, reproducing in paint motifs drawn from architecture, sculpture, and ornamental engraving. Human figures, mythological beings, birds, volutes, and plant motifs were arranged vertically to form framing elements, helping to integrate the panel into the architecture.
